A shooter accused of killing two people in Port St. Lucie died on Tuesday following a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he barricaded himself at a residence, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as 62-year-old Paul Maraio.
According to Port St. Lucie Police, on Monday, officers arrived at the 2700 block of Southeast Tropical Circle after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Police said there were multiple calls regarding two men who were shot at different places in the community.
"It appears there was some sort of ongoing neighbor dispute, and something just brought our suspect to the edge where he took things into his own hands," said Port St Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk.
