The councilman running against former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey to be Jersey City’s next mayor has picked up three high-profile endorsements from Democrats since his first-place Election Night finish.

Councilman James Solomon and McGreevey, who finished second among seven candidates, will be back on the ballot for a Dec. 2 runoff election that will decide the next mayor of New Jersey’s second-largest city.

Solomon received three big-name endorsements over the last few days from U.S. Sen. Andy Kim , Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea , who finished third in the mayoral election.

Meanwhile, McGreevey was endorsed Monday by Jersey City Council President Joyce Watterman , who finished fifth in the mayoral election with less than 4% of the vote.
