Katie Wilson, a progressive City Hall advocate who challenged a powerful incumbent, took the lead over Bruce Harrell on Monday by a mere 91 votes in the race for Seattle mayor.
The contest is on its way to being among the closest in Seattle history, as both campaigns gear up for possible recounts. With likely another 6,400 ballots left to be counted, the contest could still theoretically go either way.
But Wilson has benefited from a significant leftward trend among late-tallied ballots and Monday’s count likely makes her the favorite to be the 58th mayor of Seattle.
