The Washington State Department of Health is investigating an outbreak of botulism potentially linked to a powdered infant formula widely available in Washington and other states. Cases have been reported in 13 infants, including one from Lewis County, Washington.

Two batches of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula have been voluntarily recalled following a broader botulism outbreak investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. More than 80 cases of infant botulism were reported nationwide since August, according to the FDA, and 13 had received ByHeart formula at some point.

No ByHeart product has tested positive for any contaminants, but officials are still urging caution.
