People have been given the message ahead of the winter season, when the virus peaks
People are being urged to take every opportunity to protect themselves, as a virus is set to sweep across the UK during the "worst of winter". The disease tends to spike during the colder months, with the NHS predicting a "challenging" time ahead.
In a post on X, a spokesperson for the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) encouraged people to take extra care. They said: "Give yourself the best protection with a flu vaccine , it’s just like protective armour. Stay strong. Get vaccinated."
NHS England reported that more than 13 million people had been given the jab as of November 6, with many more having booked appointments ahead of what is being predicted as the "worst of winter only weeks away".
