FARGO — Veterans can now ride the bus for free in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Starting Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, MATBUS began offering free rides to all veterans, regardless of disability status. According to a release from MATBUS, any veteran can ride free on fixed service routes when they show their veteran ID. The free rides will continue all year.
Since 2009, the public transit system has offered free rides for service-connected veterans, a status given to those injured during military service. The change to include all veterans will reduce potential confusion that could occur when only select veterans were included in the policy, the release said.
