Billy Gilmour could rejoin the Scotland squad in time for a winner-takes-all World Cup showdown with Denmark on Tuesday.
The Napoli midfielder has withdrawn from the squad with a hip injury and will play no part in Saturday night’s game against Greece .
But boss Steve Clarke has not ruled out the prospect of having Gilmour back in his group ahead of the final game of the qualifiers when the Danes head to Hampden next week - when the Scots could clinch an automatic place at next summer’s big one in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking from a warm weather base in Belek on Tuesday assistant boss Steven Naismith revealed Gilmour has been granted leave from the camp to give him the best chance of being fit in time for the Danish blockbuster.
