WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) –Whitfield County law enforcement is warning residents of several scams going around their community now.

They say scammers are posing as employees of the Sheriff’s Office.

They say they have warrants or fines against you.

And you need to pay them over the phone.

The Sheriff’s Office says they never demand payment over the phone.

And they do not accept gift cards, Venmo, CashApp or wire transfers.

Their best advice is to simply hang up and don’t give them any of your personal information.
