The Honqi Bridge was only just completed earlier this year. It was part of a highway that links Sichuan and the nation’s heartland with Tibet .
The bridge was reopened only months before its collapse. X
Harrowing video of the incident shows the landslide pounding rubble onto the bridge, with the span collapsing under the weight and impact.
Portion of the bridge appeared to fall into the river that the bridge was built across.
The bridge, which connects China to disputed Tibet, collapsed into a pile of concrete dust and rubble. X
The destruction sent dust and debris flying across the mountains, located in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan.
No casualties were reported.
