A person has died after a two-alarm fire at a family home in Methuen on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the Methuen Fire Department.
The Methuen Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in a building on 38 Atkinson Street in Methuen at around 2:20 a.m. There, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Firefighters tried to go inside the home but were blocked by heavy fire and clutter. They then moved to protect nearby homes from catching on fire, according to the Methuen Fire Department.
Three people were able to escape the fire but one person was found dead inside the home after firefighters battled the fire for more than four hours.
