You can imagine the scene. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, formerly a prince , wakes to the news that there’s been an update from Buckingham Palace about his formal name.
Perhaps all isn’t lost. Has King Charles unexpectedly reneged on his decision to strip his brother of his titles? Or has some other country perhaps deemed him a victim of cruel slander and opted to offer him a replacement title, ideally with some lands and a castle?
No. Absolutely not. Any excitement about this title change would presumably have faded to naught upon the discovery that the only movement on his title was that rather than Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, he would henceforth be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
It’s almost enough to make you feel bad for the man. Almost.
