Pino Buffone is no longer the director of education for Ottawa's largest school board.

Robert Plamondon, supervisor of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), announced Buffone's departure in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

Buffone has been replaced by Stacey Kay, effective immediately, the release said.

Kay was appointed as manager of the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority in December 2024, and previously oversaw special education for the school board as general manager of learning support services.

Buffone was appointed as director in June 2023 and began his term Aug. 1 of that year.
