Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide commended his investigators for their use of technology in arresting a double-homicide suspect Saturday within 18 hours of the incident.

Shelide said his officers quickly identified Terrence Jermaine Sandles, 46, of Houston, as a suspect through access security video and a Flock camera information and then his location via his cell phone before arresting him at 5:58 a.m. Saturday at a Romulus motel for the Friday shooting deaths of Marvan Batoo, 40, of Shelby Township, and Ghaith Baban, 48, of Clinton Township.

Shelide said at a press conference Tuesday he contacted Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido on Saturday following his department’s arrest of Sandles.
