The latest in the back and forth of Utah’s congressional map is a hit to the state Legislature. District Court Judge Dianna Gibson issued a ruling on Monday night in favor of the plaintiffs that took lawmakers to court over the congressional map that they say split the Democratic vote in Salt Lake County. Judge Gibson ordered that Map 1, the preferred map of the plaintiffs, be the map used in Utah’s congressional elections. The objection to Map 1 has been that it provides an advantage to the Utah Democratic Party, especially in District 2 which includes the Uintah Basin.
