Weather alert in place for New York until early Tuesday evening

On Tuesday at 11:53 a.m. the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 4 p.m. for Northern Westchester, Southern Westchester, Richmond (Staten Is.), Kings (Brooklyn), Northwest Suffolk, Southwest Suffolk, Northern Queens, Northern Nassau, Southern Queens and Southern Nassau as well as Orange, Putnam, Rockland, New York (Manhattan) and Bronx counties.

"Scattered snow showers are expected across the area through this afternoon. This may result in some minor snow accumulations on cooler surfaces. In addition, gusty winds combined with the snow showers may result in briefly reduced visibility," comments the weather service.
