Health officials in the UK have warned of an infection "nearly twice as contagious" than the common cold.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has urged Brits to catch up on the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine to help limit the spread of measles.
Measles is highly contagious and an infected person remains infectious for up to ten days. The infection usually starts with cold-like symptoms, followed by a rash a few days later. Some people may also get small spots in their mouth.
There have been more than 800 confirmed measles cases in England in 2025, including 27 in the past four weeks, according to the latest UKHSA data. The majority of cases have been reported in children aged 10 and under, but the virus has also been diagnosed in young people and adults.
