CLEVELAND, Ohio – Six Flags officials are developing a strategy to determine which parks should be targeted for closure as the amusement park company continues to struggle financially.

It’s unclear how quickly the company can move to sell unprofitable parks, but Six Flags officials used words like “prioritize” and “urgency” in a recent call with analysts.

“We’re moving with a sense of urgency on that process as we’re building out our 2026 plans,” said Six Flags Chief Financial Officer Brian Witherow. “We’re going to prioritize certain parks over other parks.”

While Witherow declined to put a timetable on the evaluation process, industry consultant Dennis Speigel said Six Flags cannot afford to delay. The company has significant debt payments coming due in 2027.
