Some people have a natural capacity for leadership. Others, meanwhile, must work to hone it like any other skill.
There is no doubt that Madi Roach falls into the latter category. But that has not stopped her from taking on senior roles when asked in the last two years, such is the Kootingal-Moonbi Rooster captain's determination to do what's best for the team.
And when she runs onto the field in 2026 to begin her ninth season with the club, Roach will do so as more than captain. She will coach the side as well.
Unsurprisingly, it was not something the naturally quiet playmaker was hugely eager to do.
But, nonetheless, she decided to take the job on after long-time coach Jeff Faint stepped aside following their premiership victory over the North Tamworth Bears in September.
