Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith revealed, in no uncertain terms, that he sees high potential for starting quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer .
“We have a quarterback for the future,” he said in Monday’s weekly press conference.
Of course, that’s a loaded statement.
Even Smith’s future at Penn State is murky because of the ongoing head coaching search, and Grunkemeyer — like any player with remaining eligibility — will have the opportunity to transfer this offseason. Other schools have certainly taken notice of his breakout performance against Indiana .
Grunkemeyer is like the rest of the Penn State roster. He was coy on any specific statements regarding his future as the Nittany Lions focus on finally breaking through with a win against Michigan State this weekend.
