A hotel and rental apartment chain with locations in the Twin Cities said it’s closing immediately and liquidating the business.

Sonder said in a news release Monday that the closure stems from “severe financial constraints arising from, among other things, prolonged challenges in the integration of the company’s systems and booking arrangements with Marriott International.”

Marriott announced Sunday that it was terminating its partnership with Sonder “due to Sonder's default” — and removing Sonder properties from its booking platforms.

Officials with Sonder said that move left them no other option than closing the business.
