QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy City Council approved an amendment between Adams Electric Cooperative and the city government.
For residents just outside of the Quincy city limits, but in areas still controlled by the city, Adams Elective Cooperative is the electric company used.
On Monday, the Quincy City Council voted to let the company pay a smaller franchise fee to the city.
“This just brought that rate down slightly to be more in line with Ameren,” Quincy Mayor Linda Moore explained.
She said as the population in the city controlled townships, property development and an overall rise in population motivated the city council to amend their agreement.
“Adams has grown because a lot of our expansion and new subdivisions are in Adams territory,” Moore explained.
