Mockery erupted online as video showed President Donald Trump singing just a few words of "God Bless America" at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The patriotic song was included in the event, where the president arrived with Vice President JD Vance to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and gave a rambling speech that he believes Veterans Day should be rebranded Victory Day. He casually compared the U.S. commemoration to Europe's.
Social media users didn't hesitate to point out how Trump actually missed most of the song lyrics:
"Trump knows the first three words to 'God Bless America' but that seems to be about it," independent journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on X.
"BREAKING: On Veterans Day Trump forgets the words for 'God Bless America,' besides the first three words," progressive political commentator Brian Krassenstein wrote on X.
"Don’t ask him to recite any Bible verse or any of the lines in God Bless America," Medias Touch Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski wrote on X.
"OMG!!! He doesn’t even know the words to God Bless America!!!! WTF?!!!" Producer Morgan J. Freeman wrote on X.
"Man can’t remember the words to God Bless America, but somehow he’s got a PhD in violating women and democracy at the same time," veteran Frank C. wrote on X.
"Big stride for him, today, he’s not sound asleep yet!" DJ Omega MVP wrote on X.
"He still doesn’t know 'God Bless America,'" Vince D. Monroy wrote on Bluesky.
