SAN MARCOS, Texas — The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is asking for the community's help as it faces what it calls a critical overcrowding situation.
Shelter officials said despite steady adoption and rescue efforts, the ongoing intake of surrendered pets, strays and other animals continues to strain capacity.
Three dogs are at the highest risk of euthanasia due to health and behavioral issues, and officials said they must find secure placement by Tuesday, Nov. 18.
While adoption or rescue transfer is the preferred outcome, officials said long-term foster homes play a vital role in improving animals’ quality of life.
