MUNCIE, IN — Former Muncie Mayor Sharon McShurley will be a candidate for Delaware County clerk in 2026.

McShurley, a Republican who served as mayor from 2008 through 2011, announced her candidacy on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

"The Delaware County Circuit Court Clerk's office is a vital hub of our local government, affecting everything from property records to the integrity of our elections," McShurley said in a release. "Residents deserve an office that is not only managed with precision and integrity, but one that is also accessible and responsive to their needs. I am committed to meeting that expectation."

McShurley said she hopes to "continue the legacy of (current Clerk Rick) Spanger by providing the level of service the public has come to expect."
