MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis City Council Member Jamal Osman said he is OK after being involved in an alleged carjacking Monday evening.
Osman, who represents Ward 6, said in a statement on social media that the carjacking happened near Portland Avenue and Lake Street around 8 p.m. He said he was making a call to his sister when it happened.
He said Minneapolis police were quick to respond.
"I'm home now in Philips West with my family, and I want to assure neighbors that I'm okay," he said. "This incident is another reminder of the work ahead to keep all of our communities safe."
According to Osman's statement, police believe the same suspects involved in Osman's carjacking targeted "another victim and her child" earlier in the evening.
