DERBY, Conn — State environmental officials announced that they recently removed a raccoon that was illegally being kept at a pizza restaurant in Derby.
The Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and Dept. of Agriculture (DoAg) announced Tuesday that environmental law enforcement officers removed a raccoon from Bartone's Apizza on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Officials said the animal was being kept there illegally.
While no specific details were revealed as to why the raccoon was being kept at the pizza restaurant, officials do remind residents that keeping wild animals, including raccoons, is against the law and can endanger people, pets, and the animals themselves.
