Seattle will maintain closures at Lake City Mini Park, Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park’s shelter area and Seven Hills Park through the end of December due to activity “incompatible with their intended use.”

The parks were originally closed Aug. 28 for 60 days so Seattle Parks and Recreation could “assess possible amenity changes and/or upgrades.” The city erected fences around the perimeter of each park in the interim and announced last month the closures would be extended through Dec. 27.

Lake City Mini Park, at the busy intersection of Lake City Way Northeast and Northeast 125th Street, is a plaza where homeless people had been camping.
