The 76ers downgraded former MVP big man Joel Embiid to out for Tuesday’s game against the Celtics with right knee soreness. The team also said he’s being evaluated by team doctors and further updates will be provided.

Embiid has been slowed down by injuries in recent years, but those have all been left knee problems. So the right knee issue is notable in that it’s a different knee. It’s unclear when Embiid will return to the court with this latest setback.

Embiid last played in a game last Saturday against the Raptors, when he played 26 minutes and scored 29 points. He missed the Pistons loss a day later as part of a back-to-back. Embiid has averaged 19.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in his six games played this year.
