SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Sparks Fire Department is significantly increasing fees for their inspection services.
The Sparks City Council unanimously passed the rate of increase at its Monday meeting.
The previous fee was a flat rate of between $60 and $90 depending on the service performed. The fee is now increasing to an hourly rate of $235.
The increase will begin in January and be the first increase in the fee since 2017.
City Fire Marshal Patrick Chew said the fee is needed to recover the cost of their services.
Chew also said the fire department plans to propose an annual update so there will not be a significant increase in the future.
