MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) - U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy made a stop at the Central Wisconsin Airport Tuesday morning.
Duffy met with air traffic controllers and toured their tower before speaking with the media.
Duffy addressed the impact the federal government shutdown is having on air traffic nationwide.
“We’ve seen a steady process where the airspace has experienced more delays and more cancellations. This weekend, Saturday, Sunday, yesterday, all not great days,” said Duffy.
“We’re at the cusp of hopefully having the government reopen. I’m concerned that we’re not going to have, on day one, controllers come back into the towers right away,” said Duffy. “I’m asking them to do that. President Trump has asked them to do that.
