LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (WXIX) - A Lawrenceburg Police Department sergeant is being honored for saving a baseball player’s life after he collapsed during practice in October.
Sgt. Greg Cannon was helping coach his team during practice for an upcoming tournament when one of the players suddenly collapsed on second base. Cannon, who was off duty at the time, immediately ran to help and performed CPR while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive.
“It’s like family, we’ve coached this team, I think five years together us three coaches, so it’s like one of my own, it’s one of my son’s good friends and you don’t ever wanna see that happen,” Cannon said.
