FARGO — North Dakota State wrapped up its 12th title in 18 years of Missouri Valley Football Conference membership last week, seven of them, like this year, being outright. The Bison opponent on Saturday, Northern Iowa, used to be in that kind of a title conversation.
No longer.
The Panthers still hold the conference record for most titles with 16, but the last one was in 2010 and they’ll be decided underdogs at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome. Make no mistake, the NDSU head coach is on pit bull alert.
“That’s one of the things that keeps me on edge,” Tim Polasek said. “I think this week will be more about us and how we prepare ourselves and how we get ourselves ready to go. I’m excited for however long we have left with this football team and let’s value the time we have together
