On the heels of six Grammy nominations for her seventh studio album Man’s Best Friend , pop star Sabrina Carpenter has inked a deal to star in and produce an untitled musical, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland , for Universal Pictures .

For Carpenter, the project will mark a first attempt at anchoring a major studio picture. Plot details are under wraps. DGA Award and two-time Emmy nominee Lorene Scafaria ( Hustlers , Succession ) is set to direct from her own script.

In addition to Carpenter, Marc Platt will produce through Universal-based Marc Platt Productions , which releases Wicked: For Good with Universal on November 21. Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton will also produce through Alloy Entertainment. SVP Production Development Ryan Jo
