Amid balmy November temperatures, thousands of Calgarians streamed to Remembrance Day services to hear not only tributes to past sacrifices but urgings to remain vigilant in an uncertain world.

At one of several large city ceremonies, attendants filled the parking and outdoor exhibition areas of The Military Museums in one of the biggest Nov. 11 gatherings the venue has seen.

Before the service, crowds swarmed around a collection of armoured vehicles that recalled the Second World War, Korean War and peacekeeping missions.
