JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Office of Administration and the Missouri Veterans Commission held a Veterans Day ceremony Tuesday morning to dedicate a new memorial obelisk for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan .

The event was also a rededication of the Gulf War memorial obelisk, as the conflict's end date has now been added to the stone.

In 2022, the Missouri Veterans Commission began working with the Missouri Office of Administration and the Missouri State Capitol Commission to begin the project. The project was approved in May 2025, and construction began shortly after. In total, the project cost around $157,000.
