As all Southwestern Athletic Conference football programs have three or fewer regular season games remaining this season, the haves and the have nots are established.

Alabama State , Jackson State and Prairie View are clearly the best teams in the SWAC, but only two teams can play in the SWAC championship game. For Alabama State to make the game, Jackson State would have to lose one game and the Hornets would have to win out. For Prairie View to miss the championship game, the Panthers would have to lose the final two games and Grambling would have to win its final two games.
