State police have arrested a Windham woman who is accused of starving a dog to death over a span of months.
The dog, a boxer-Husky mix named Girl, was found dead in a cage that was left in front of an abandoned home on Route 32 in Mansfield on Oct. 23, according to police.

Over the course of the investigation, police determined that the dog had lost 36 pounds over a span of around sixth months and suffered a long, slow death, according to the arrest warrant.
Investigators started piecing together what happened when they scanned the dog’s microchip, which led them to a person who had owned the dog.
She told police that she had given the dog to a friend in April and provided them with text messages proving that the
