Ind. (WNDU) - St. Joseph Health System held a Veterans Day event featuring a Bald Eagle presentation Tuesday.

This happened at both the Mishawaka and Plymouth medical centers.

People not only learned about the bald eagle but were also able to touch one and take photos with it.

The bald eagle has been a patriotic symbol since the conception of the country.

It symbolizes pride and strength.

For vets dealing with medical conditions, it serves as a reminder to stay resilient.

“One of my favorite things is its never gets old hearing people’s experiences and what the birds makes them feel ......look for these birds out in the wild,” said Sarah Gilmore a part of the Michigan Avian Experience.

Veterans also got the opportunity to take their picture with the eagle.
