NEEDHAM, Mass. —
With skies expected to clear over the Boston area tonight, there's a good chance for Massachusetts residents to see the Northern Lights before bedtime.
The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a rare G4-level watch for Tuesday, with an estimated arrival time of approximately 8 p.m.
"This has to do with two overlapping (coronal mass ejections) that should combine just before reaching Earth," explained Kelly Beatty, of Sky and Telescope . "This could be a very good night for auroras, if the sky clears."
