BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - About 56,000 veterans in North Dakota are being honored in various ways for their efforts and their fight for freedom on this Veterans’ Day. The University of Mary in Bismarck held a special performance to celebrate those who served.

For many of these veterans, getting to listen to music is the best part of a Veteran’s Day celebration.

“University of Mary just has an unbelievable music program,” said Colonel Dan Murphy, a veteran. “They just do such a great job.”

On Tuesday, the band played a selection of two patriotic songs: a Russian piece called “Salvation is Created,” played by the brass ensemble, and “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
