TRUSSVILLE, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Larry Levi Willingham, a former Auburn football defensive back and Alabama Sports Hall of Famer, died Saturday , according to Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. He was 76 years old.

Willingham was preceded in death by both his parents and is survived by his son, his two brothers, a nephew, a grandniece and a grandnephew, according to his obituary.

A native of Cullman, Willingham moved to Huffman as a child where he attended elementary school.

His football career began at L. Frazier Banks High School in Birmingham, where he was a member of the 1965 State Championship team. He was named to the Division 4A All-State Second-team as an end in 1966.
