SHINNSTON, W.Va. — Hundreds of people braved frigid temperatures and a brisk wind Tuesday morning for the annual Shinnston Veterans Day parade.
Those lining the parade route were bundled up, but cheering and clapping loudly during the parade. Lumberport, Salem and Shinnston Fire Departments brought out their shiny fire trucks with air horns blaring, much to the enjoyment of attendees young and old alike.
Fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of the 11 a.m. parade there was nary a soul on Pike Street, but with a few minutes to go until the parade started, people started exiting their cars and taking to the sidewalks in anticipation of cheering on veterans and band members.
