COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia military father gave his son the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday when he showed up at his school, back home from Iraq for Veterans Day — and his son gave him a profound surprise in return, bursting into tears as he ran to hug him.

Cobb County Schools shared video of the emotional reunion between U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Osei Gore and his son Amari at Kemp Elementary School.

The school began with a Veterans Day presentation that included a video message from Sgt. Gore in Iraq, where he'd been stationed. His son believed that's still where he was — until the presentation took a turn and his dad walked into the school gymnasium.

The boy burst out crying, causing the dad to shed some of his own tears, too.
