The Community Law Center, a nonprofit law firm that represents neighborhoods, lost the offices it has occupied since the 1990s in the Monday fire at the historic “Castle” on Keswick Road in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood.
Executive director Amy Petkovsek, who lives across the street, was at home when fire alarms went off around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, but joined her staff after they evacuated safely.
She said it was “traumatic” to watch the flames, powered by strong wind, burn through the roof and upper windows. The second floor of the building, which CLC has occupied for most of its nearly 40-year history, suffered water damage, but didn’t burn.
