New Jersey’s first snowfall of the season left a light dusting in several counties with two spots reporting at least 1 inch of snow.

“The first flakes of the season from scattered snow showers and flurries have occurred across portions of eastern PA, northern and central N.J. this morning,” the National Weather Service said. “Parts of northern NJ and the Poconos even got a measurable coating of snow.”

The weather service issued alerts for Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties through 4 p.m. due to the combination of strong winds and snow showers.

“Minor accumulations may continue and strong gusty winds of up to 35-45 mph may result in brief reductions in visibility due to blowing snow,” the weather service said.
