HERRIN, Ill. (KFVS) - A Heartland educator is marking a new chapter in her life.

Makennah Johnston is a fourth grade teacher at Herrin Elementary School and is releasing her first book November 11.

The McBrights is a children’s book with the tale of the McBright family, a household of string lights who become accidentally forgotten in storage and sold to an antique shop.

Johnston said a little faith and some Christmas magic come a long way.

“You know we go through this journey of what’s called life and there are times where you’re like where is hope in this world?! And I wanted a story that people could sit down and just feel good and feel like you know there is still good in this world, we can do this together,” said Johnston.
