FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Veterans Day is a day when we honor those who fought for the freedoms we have today.

Carilion’s Home Health and Hospice teams partnered with Franklin Health and Rehab to host a pinning ceremony as part of their We Honor Veterans program.

That’s where we spoke with some veterans about the importance of the holiday.

“Freedom isn’t free, and if you love your freedoms, thank a veteran,” said Darrell Lee.

Lee is a Navy veteran who was honored to be one of the volunteers who took part in pinning fellow veterans at the ceremony.

Lee comes from a military background; his father and grandfather both served before he devoted 23 years of his life to the Navy.

He said one of his biggest accomplishments was serving our country.
