TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Two people were thrown from a motorcycle during a deadly crash on I-12 in Tangipahoa Parish.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened around 3 p.m. on Monday, November 10, and claimed the life of June Volkman, 76, of Texas.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was going east on I-12 when it was hit from behind by a Volkswagen, troopers said.

According to LSP, the driver and passenger on the motorcycle both had on DOT-approved helmets. The driver suffered moderate injuries. The passenger had serious injuries and passed away at a hospital.

Troopers said the driver of the Volkswagen was not hurt and got a citation for following too closely.
