JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As overnight temperatures dipped across Northeast Florida, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) crews battled five separate fires overnight , including one deadly.

Fire Chief Damian Bell confirmed one person died in one of the incidents in the Normandy area.

The causes of all five fires remain under investigation, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting JFRD in determining whether any of the incidents are connected.

According to JFRD, the five fires that happened overnight during the cold snap were at the following locations:

3900 block of Bunnell Dr

Palafox St at 12th St.

3900 block of Lane Ave. S.

8900 block of Trail Ridge Rd.

9500 block of Scadlocke Rd.
