INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A former officer has filed a discrimination lawsuit, which claims her career was destroyed after her response to a dying colleague was deemed ‘overly emotional.’

The lawsuit, which was filed in the Jackson County District Court on Monday, Nov. 10, alleges that Erin Wildman was sexually discriminated and retaliated against by the Independence Police Department .

The petition claimed the Department’s actions followed Wildman’s response to a February 2024 shooting that killed Officer Cody Allen and civil process server Drexel Mack .
